Tre Stoner, Young Talent Got The Trap Boomin’
by Paloma Picassa
Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of sitting down with 19 yr. old rapper, Tre Stoner and his audio engineer, DJ Radical, to discuss the surprising, and seemingly effortless growth of Stoner’s career. Tre has already booked gigs and festivals in Ohio, Arizona and Tennessee, as well as opened up for such artists as Atlanta’s Two-9 crew and hip-hop duo, Rae Sremmurd; no doubt, a busy and impressive calendar for someone who’s only been in the rap game for a little less than 4 months.
Born in Louisiana, raised in Kentucky and Tennessee, Tre is unquestionably a southern boy, which is reflected in his music. However, like any young rapper, the southern “Stoner” says he’s still experimenting, searching for a sound that best fits him. One of his most current and greatest influences is Travi$ Scott, and like Scott, Tre wants to expand the variation of his music, doing it conjointly for all fellow stoners out there blazing up, and of course, pure love of hip-hop. Committed and dedicated to the game, Tre seems to jump at all opportunities to perform and advance his career, all the while remaining humble and true to the music. With the help of his managers, Levi and Logan Patton, along with producers, DJ Radical and Jonathan Tramel, the team is well equipped to sculpt an original brand and sound that is worth keeping an eye on.
Tre is back in Nashville for the time being, and is hard at work on his debut mixtape, Rolling Stoner. I was lucky enough to hear a snippet of what he and his team are cookin’ up, and trust me…it’s gonna be good. Till then, be sure to check out his most recent single
TRAP BOOMIN’ on Souncloud, set to be released September 30th on iTunes.
