Not even a year after Atlanta artist, Trinidad James jumps into the game, he has officially inked a deal with Def Jam. Earlier in the year, we were introduced to James via Nashville annual event, Sneakers X Speakers. Trinidad James had a unique appearance and such a crowd performance that had everyone wanting more. After relaying that it was his first show outside of Atlanta, GA many grew attached to James. We later linked with Trinidad for an interview where he discussed being humble and content with who he is as a person. He doesnt look for the cosign of anyone. However, various artists including Erykah Badu, Rick Ross, Wale, Trey Songz, Lebron James, Busta Rhymes, and many more have taken a liking to his hit single, All Gold Everything. Fast forwarding to recent times, James performed in NYC where sources reported that both Def Jam and Atlantic had representatives at the show to get the full effect of a Trinidad James show. After speculations surfaced of Trinidad getting signed via Twitter, Billboard confirms that Mr. Gold Gang has indeed linked with the Def Jams family.
“We’re excited to welcome a young talent like Trinidad James to the Def Jam family. Def Jam prides itself as both a cornerstone of hip-hop’s rich tradition, and as a vital, forward-thinking label dedicated to breaking and nurturing emerging artists. Trinidad James represents the cutting-edge of what’s happening in the culture today. We are thrilled to have him at the label, and look forward to growing his already massive buzz.” – Joie Manda, Def Jam
